Arrow to Arrow..

Aidankoch

Jess Fogel just alerted me to her latest endeavor, Arrow to Arrow. An online, meticulously curated, gallery/shop which offers one of a kind artwork, exclusive limited edition prints and other special small run products. It's just in it's beginning stages, what we like to call a soft opening here in the biz. (You can use that, it'll make you feel important. ;) At the moment Arrow to Arrow is offering work from our faves Lisa Congdon, Aidan Koch and Molly Schafer. I am really digging the thoughtful selections and I know you guys will too. Eat it up! I'll keep you posted as they add new items.

julie morstad..

Howtomakeakite

opening side by side to michael swaney's whitehorse, yellowknife, red deer at atelier is julie morstad's show touch wood and whistle. featuring ten, new ink and watercolor drawings all exploring children's games.

'morstad's delicately rendered lines and assured sense of colour evoke an eerie nostalgia as she channels illustrations from children's books and exposes their underlying darkness. she states that when creating her whimsically wicked ink and watercolour drawings, "hazy memories of childhood fuel much of my recent work, and the narratives of fairytales and folklore are ones that i have drawn upon repeatedly. being a child of the age of the commoditized and marketable fairytale, my drawings reflect both an unabashed delight in the preciousness of this narrative as well as a conscious subversion of the same."'

morstad's use of mischief within her drawings is brilliant. it's going to be an amazing night at atelier gallery!

Adornment fascinates me. I love how we live in this super evolved (some would argue...) society and yet we still wear symbols and signs to let people around us know where our aesthetics are at. I am always super drawn to jeweler's that work with unique and non-traditional materials. Stephanie Simek transforms shells, fauna and egg shells into beautiful pieces of wearable art. That Illuminated Sea Cookie pin would look slammin on a tweed vintage coat! Oh, or the Pussy Willow earrings?!

Be sure to check out Stephanie's latest project; her Sound Locket. She collaborated with five musicians to create this unique piece that literally holds a song.

ana bagayan..

Unexpecting

how much do we love little baby animals? we so do. ana bagayan just added a five print mini set of her 'mother's babies' pieces to her store. the print set is babes featured in her solo show at billy shire fine arts that opened last weekend . i first saw ana's work on kirsten anderson's blog, right some good. i fell in love w/ ana's work. ana is exploring "brooding as opposed to morbidity" in her latest paintings. what better way to explore this then w/ cutie pie animals. ana asks: "please give tobie, sammy and roger, stuart, chuck, and ginger a loving home!". how could you deny her?

WRC Powerslide trailer ufficiale e modalità di gioco

wrc-powerslide-milestone

WRC Powerslide: trailer ufficiale e modalità di gioco, 5.0 out of 5 based on 3 ratings

Tim Lee..

Farewllmymourningbird

25yr old, British born Chinese Artist Tim Lee recently sent me a link to his work online. Sometimes, I hate sitting behind a computer when super detailed work comes over the wires. From what I see of Tim's paintings they're intricate as all get out. He paints with Chinese inks on rice paper...I can only imagine how amazing that paper looks with the ink soaked through it. I'd love to just stand there and stare. Wouldn't you? So gorgeous. See more of Tim's work on his blog.

The Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day

I think I’ll move to Australia…….Okay.. maybe Alexander had it worse.. I didn’t get gum in my hair, trip on my skateboard or drop my sweater in the sink while the water was running.. I wasn’t the only one who didn’t find a toy in my cereal box, and I didn’t have to sit in the middle of the backseat while I was getting smooshed… but it still wasn’t fun.(p.s. I really should get that book.. There are actually a lot of book I want to get.. Guess I’ll add it to the list..)And plus.. I’m 9 months pregnant.. I have the right to complain.. right???? :)I had a doctors appointment this morning and I was really looking forward to it. I hadn’t had one in 2 weeks, but at that time I was already 50% effaced and 1cm dilated! My doula said that was great for 35 weeks. I was very diligent about doing all the things she told me to do since that day. And I really felt like things were changing and progressing. My bladder hurts constantly.. always feels like it’s full.. .even when it’s not. But I looked at that as a good sign, “Must mean the baby is low and engaging..” I would tell myself.. Last night my lower back hurt sooo much… I remember other people telling me that’s how they knew labor was right around the corner.I’m still aiming for next week(end)…So imagine my surprise this morning when the doctor informed that NO progress had been made.. still 50% still 1….. after a quick in office ultrasound to check positioning and fluid levels she informed me that I need to be prepared to go all the way to my due date and probably past..
She doesn’t see things happening any faster….Who tells a 9 months pregnant lady to prepare to be pregnant for 4 more weeks??????????Then she goes on to inform me that he is about 7 – 7 1/2 lbs right now. And to expect him to gain AT LEAST 1/2 a pound a week.. I really don’t want to beat out either of these women..

Anna Bates gave birth to a son who weighed 23lbs. 12ozs. and measured 30″ long, at her home in Seville, Ohio, on January 19, 1879. The baby died 11 hours later its birth. The heaviest surviving baby born to a healthy mother was a boy weighing 22lbs. 8ozs. born to Carmelina Fedele in Aversa, Italy, September 1955.YIKESS!(on an interesting side note.. check on this record.. “The youngest person ever to give birth is Lina Medina, a Peruvian girl from the Andean village of Ticrapo. She gave birth to a boy by cesarean section on May 14, 1939 at the age of five years, seven months and 21 days. The girls father was initially suspected of being the father but authorities were never successful in determining who fathered Lina’s child.Medical examination at the time of birth revealed that Lina had the ovaries of a fully mature woman. Her medical history also claimed that she had been having menstrual cycles several years before the birth. She had also developed breasts. Doctors theorized that her abnormal sexual maturity was a result of an extraordinary hormonal disorder of pituitary origin.” 5 years old.. that’s just insane… )There was actually A LOT of good news at this appointment and I know I should be focusing on that. My Strep B came back negative! (Did you know 1 in 4 women have strep B? Those are HUGE odd’s. Glad I escaped..) He is still in a great position and ready to go when ever he decides, my fluid levels still look great, Blood Pressure is great.. No protein or Glucose spilling over.. And he looks healthy and great. On another side note.. he’s found his position of choice and hardly ever moves from it. His bum is under my left ribs and he stretches his legs out to the right so they are wayyy on my right side. Like completely on the side of my body. If you push on his bum, you can make his feet stick out.. (Le’a had way too much fun doing this on Saturday!) Sure enough, that’s how he was during the ultrasound today too.. Legs stretched all the way out.. I guess he doesn’t like to suck on his toe’s anymore.I did take some pictures.. but with my new camera.. I don’t have a cord anymore, so I have to wait to use the card reader, and I’m not very good at remembering to do that… maybe tomorrow..Anyone want to go walking with me to convince this kid that it’s time to move out?????????

Seonna Hong Prints X Subliminal Projects Store .

Seonna3

Subliminal Projects opened up a store while my blog was on hiatus last fall...and I definitely wanted to post about it then, so I sure as hell gonna post about it now. ;) There is so much good stuff in there. I had the pleasure of seeing the original paintings of these Seonna Hong giclee prints last spring. I love that they are available as prints now. So delicate and lovely.

Be sure to peruse the store, judging by what they have and sold out of (you snooze, you looze) there will be more goodness to come.

6 months.. (almost..)

I always felt like people took pictures of their naked baby’s so that everyone coud ohhh and awwww over their precious rolls.. it always seems like you see naked pictures of very rolly polly babies. My baby is neither rolly or polly.. In fact he’s pretty darn skinny. Since we are only a few days away from his 6 month birthday.. I thought I would post these as 6 month pictures. His doctors appt is not for a few days, but I guess he’s not much over 14 lbs right now. He still fits into an awful lot of 3 month clothes… at 6 months old!!!! But in comparison, his daddy was only 15 pounds at 1 year, and I was 18 lbs at 6 months. I guess he just falls right in between! And that happens to be our favorite place for him to be.. right in between!

Love you Beebza.. Happy 6 months baby…

Studio Visit Mark Warren Jacques in SF..

Im_Here_Now

Contributor and gallerist, Jillian Mackintosh shares with us her latest studio visit with newly transplanted artist, Mark Warren Jacques. Mark's studio is a pretty remarkable place, however Jillian's pics make it look even more inviting than ever. They make me want to grab a sleeping bag and sleep under the stars surrounded by Mark's work. - meighan

Mark Warren Jacques admittedly has an amorous disposition and this time he’s fallen in love with San Francisco. While embracing different cultures, ideals and perspectives he’s undergone a metamorphosis in his painting, both conceptually and symbolically. Last week I dropped by the warehouse where Mark has built himself a zen tent in the attic studio space. A skylight reflects bright light into the white cotton tent filled with succulent plants, a guitar and new paintings for his upcoming solo exhibition I'm Here Now at Gallery Hijinksthis October.

Introspection of the mind, body and soul are divulged figuratively while remaining abstract. Bright colors cluster together with patterns and stark edges as elements of the natural world take form with bare boned foliage and starry constellations. Mark tells me he's experimenting with form, figures and anatomy for his next show which should be an interesting addition to his existing spectrum of symmetrical and organic shapes.
